Beautification

As part of our mission to beautify Bucks County, Bucks Beautiful strives to enhance the local landscape for residents and visitors alike by beautifying our towns, schools, parks, roadsides and pathways throughout Bucks County.  Below are some of the ways in which we accomplish this.  To apply for a matching garden grant, please request a grant application via email to info@bucksbeautiful.org.  Application deadlines are March 31st for Spring and August 31st for Fall.

Maintain Bucks County Public Gardens – Provide support for the maintenance of local gardens such as those at the Central Bucks YMCA, Delaware Valley University, the Bucks County Library, Washington Crossing Historic Park and Fonthill Castle.

Pop-up Parks – Bringing public awareness to the need for more green space in our urban areas with the wonderfully successful pop-up parks in both Chalfont and Doylestown each September. PARK(ing) for People’s team of volunteers including landscape architects, designers, artists and residents create this free event. The Doylestown Pop Up Park, which made its first appearance in 2015, has had a positive impact on the whole community.  Restaurants and shops near the parks have reported a 20-25% increase in sales during the weekend-long event.

Community Garden Grants – Since 1991 we have been providing grants for the development of community gardens throughout Bucks County. These include plantings at hospitals, war memorials, public parks, gateway gardens and town centers.  Pictured below are volunteers maintaining the Sack Race Garden which we sponsor at Doylestown’s Central Park.  We also award grants to area garden clubs who sponsor uplifting planters at nursing homes and long term care facilities.
